Madeleine Groteau

     Madeleine was born in 1653 in Cogne, Charente-Maritime, Poitou-Charentes, France. She was christened there in Notre Dame.1 A contract for the marriage of Michel Maillou & Madeleine Groteau was signed on 3 September 1702 at Quebec, Canada. The contract written by Michel Laferte dit Lapailleur states that Michel is the widower of Jeanne Mercie and Madeleine is a widow of Francois Marchand.2 She was buried there in the cemetery of Notre Dame on Wednesday, 5 September 1703.3 Madeleine departed this life on Wednesday, 5 September 1703 in ville de Quebec, Quebec, Canada, at Hotel-Dieu at age 50 years.
