Rachael A. Gray

     Rachael A. was born in 1843 in Worth Township, Mercer County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Jesse Gray & Amy Ann Applegate. Rachael A. married Peter Bowerman, son of Peter Bowerman and Nancy Anna Shaffstall, on 2 March 1869 in Pipestone Township, Berrien County, Michigan.¹ Frank & Rachael had children: Elmina G. [5/28/1874-] & Corwin E. [3/04/1877-12/29/1884]. 6 August 1870, Rachael and her husband, Peter, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Berrien Township. Enumerated in this household were Peter Bowerman [23 Indiana] and his wife: Rachael [28 Pennsylvania].² 3 June 1880, Rachael and her husband, Frank, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Pipestone Township, Berrien County, Michigan. Enumerated in this household were Frank P. Bowerman [32 Ohio], his wife: Rachael [37 Pennsylvania], children: Elmy [6 Michigan], & Corvin [3 Michigan].³ Rachael departed this life on Tuesday, 21 February 1882 in Pipestone Township at age 39 years. She was buried at Berrien Township in the Maple Grove Cemetery. She was age 39, wife of F.P. Bowerman.⁴
