     Christopher was born on Thursday, 7 January 1700 in Dartmouth, Bristol County, Massachusetts.1 Christopher married Patience Mosher, daughter of John Mosher and Experience Kirby, circa 1725. They lived in Tiverton, Rhode Island. He sold his lands and removed to Oblong, Dutchess County,New York. Christopher's wife, Patience, died before 28 July 1756, leaving him a widower. Christopher married 2nd Mehitable Allen on 28 July 1756 in Dartmouth, Bristol County, Massachusetts. 36894.2 Christopher made his will on 17 October 1759 at Crumelbow Precinct, Dutchess County, New York.

His will dated October 17, 1759, recorded at Poughkeepsie, NY reads: “ I Christopher Devill of Crum Elbow precinct, Dutchess County, being in my perfect understanding, I leave to my son Jonathan any and all lands of mine in Dutchess County, I leave to my wife Mehitable, the use of said farm until my son Jonathan is of age. With all the household furniture I had with her, also a riding horse, saddle, bridle, one fat cow and my crop of Indian corn, four swine and twenty bushel of wheat. I leave to my Granddaughter Patience, daughter of my deceased son Joseph, she is 18 (?). To my daughter Sarah Mosher, one half dozen pewter plates, an ironpot, a frying pan, one bed which has poain ticking. I leave to my son Israel 8 shillings. It is my will likewise that a bed which was my first wife's be now converted to the use of my present wife until my son Jonathan is twenty one and then to be delivered to him. All the rest of my property to be sold by my Executors. I make my wife and son Israel Executors.”.3,4


Christopher departed this life before 24 December 1759 in Crumelbow Precinct, Dutchess County, New York. His will was probated on 24 December 1759.
