    She was a widow in 1719. In 1703, he received a deed from Theophilus, his brother, for land at Aquebogue. This might have been either Theophilus, 1, or his son Theophilus, 2. The latter is no doubt correct, as Matthias, the first settler, mentions only John, Martha, and Theophilus, in his will, which see. (Matthias, 1.) In 1698, Daniel's name stands alone in the census list, intimating that his father was probably dead. (Doc. Hist. i. 454.) In the .same list, p. 455, occurs the name of Mary, daughter of Simon Ramsay. Hence Theophilus was not yet married at that date, at least to her.     (Southold, L. I).
