Richard Bulgar1

M, b. 1608, d. after 7 April 1687
     Richard was born in 1608.2,3 Richard married Lettice Underhill, daughter of John Underhill and Honor Pawley. He must have come over in the Winthrop fleet as he was made a freeman the same day as John Underhill and Richard Morris. He then joined the church in Boston on the 13th day of the second month [April] 1634.4 Richard's wife, an unknown person , died on 21 March 1673, leaving him a widower.5 On 7 April 1687, he conveyed all his property to the overseers of the poor of Portsmouth, and probably died there shortly after.5

[S115] Genealogical Dictionary of the First Settlers of New England, Showing Three Generations Of Those Who Came Before May, 1692, On The Basis Of Farmer's Registar, Volume I: Bulgar, Richard, Boston, came, probably in the fleet with Winthrop freeman 18 May 1631, had John, baptized 20 Apr. 1634; was of the party of Mrs. HUtchinson, and of so much consequence as to be disarmed went frist to Rhode Island in 1638 with Coddington, but next year to Exeter. He was a bricklayer. Belkn. I. 20. I believe he went back to Rhode Island and there was 71 years old in 1679.
