Samuel Brown1

     Samuel was born in 1733 in the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, Long Island, New York. He gave his age as 45 when he signed the Oath of Allegiance and Peaceable Behaviour required by Governor William Tryon in 1778.2 Samuel married Elizabeth Howell, daughter of Captain Richard Howell and Elizabeth Tuthill, on 7 December 1752 in the Town of Southold.3 Samuel and Elizabeth had children: Richard [chr. 11/29/1753], child [1756], Richard [chr.11/26/1758], child [1760-2/13/1777], Samuel [7/28/1772-4/28/1847] [m. 2/14/1799 Harmony Tuthill]. Samuel departed this life on Saturday, 1 December 1792 in the Town of Southold at age 59 years.
