Andre Bergeron

M, b. circa 1643, d. 21 February 1712
     Andre was born circa 1643 in La Rochelle, Bishopric of La Rochelle, Poitou-Charentes, France, at St-Sourlin-du-Bois. He was the son of Pierre Bergeron & Catherine Marchand.1 In 1658, he immigrated from France to Montreal.2 A contract for the marriage of Andre and Marguerite DuMay was signed on 9 July 1673 in Beaumont, Bellechasse County, Quebec, Canada. It was drawn up by notary Giles Rageot. It notes that he was the son of Pierre Bergeron & Catherine Marchand - originally from St-Sourlin-du-Bois, La-Rochelle. And it notes that she was the daughter of Jean Du Mets & Jeanne Vedin.3 1681, Andre and Marguerite were listed on the Canadian Census in Comte-de-Levis, Quebec, Canada. Enumerated in this household were Andre Bergeron [38 years], his wife: Marguerite Dumets [22 years], Andre [7 years], Jean [5 years], Pierre [4 years] & Jacques [2 years].4 Andre departed this life on Sunday, 21 February 1712 in St-Nicolas, Levis County, Quebec, Canada. On the same day, he was buried there in the churchyard of St-Nicolas.5
