     Daniel was born before 20 November 1646 in Wethersfield, Hartford County, Connecticut. On 20 November 1648, he was christened in Wethersfield, Hartford County, Connecticut. Daniel married Elizabeth Foote, daughter of Nathaniel Foote II and Elizabeth Smith, on 10 November 1670 in Wethersfield, Hartford County, Connecticut. As early as 1671, Daniel settled in Hatfield, Massachusetts, removing about 1689 to Deerfield. He was a selectman and leader in town affairs. In the massacre of 16 September 1696, Elizabeth and two. possibly three, of their children were slain by Indians, two of the children were wounded and several were driven to Canada. Daniel was sold to the Jesuits, and redeemed in 1698. On Tuesday, 29 February 1703/1704, shortly before the break of day, Indians stole into the village, set the buildings on fire, captured most of the inhabitants, & marched them to Quebec, Canada. A number of people were slain at the "taking of the town". Hepzibah was slain shortly after leaving the town, in the meadows, probably 1 March 1793/04/ Their daughter, Sarah, wife of Benjamin Burt, was with child but made the trip to Canada where the child was born.
Daniel rebuilt his home, and later fought off, with other fellow townsmen, in 1709, yet another attack by the French and Indians. Daniel married Hepzibah Buell on 17 February 1699/0 in Deerfield, Franklin County, Massachusetts. She was 1st married to a Mr. Wells. Daniel married Sarah Hawks after 1 March 1704/5 in Deerfield, Franklin County, Massachusetts. She was first married toa Mr, Mattoon. Daniel departed this life on Thursday, 14 August 1732 in Deerfield, Franklin County, Massachusetts.
