     Lawrence was born in Cranbrook, County Kent, England. Lawrence married Miss (?) Chapman in England. He resided at Cranbrook, County Kent - within a few miles of the ancient castle of Bathurst, situated in Bathurst wood in Battle, County Sussex. He lived during the time of Henry VI [1422-1461]. The manor was lost some time during the War of the Roses [1455-1487].2
