His father was dead before the 21 of November 1306; on that date he did homage as a knight, to the archbishop if York for Guisley & other lands - this began a distinguished military carreer; September 1308 appointed one of the "custodes" in the couny of Northuberlad' 3 and Tynedale on the 30th he was commanded to assist the Ear of Richmond to expell the Scottish rebels from Galloway; Fought faithfully for the King against the Northumberland rebellion led by the Percys. Simon was born in 1330. Simon married Maud (?).
