     Nathaniel was born circa 1606 in Cholesbury, Buckinghamshire, England. Nathaniel married Abigail Camp circa 1640 in Milford, New Haven County, Connecticut. Nathaniel resided at Milford in 1639. In 1654, he was living in Fairfield.1,2 Nathaniel's wife, Abigail, died on 22 March 1648 in Milford, New Haven County, Connecticut, leaving him a widower. Nathaniel married 2nd Joanna (?) in 1649 in Fairfield, Fairfield County, Connecticut. Joanna was 1st married to a Mr. Westcoat.3 Nathaniel departed this life in 1658 in Fairfield, Fairfield County, Connecticut.

    , In 1888, in celebration of its 250th Anniversary, the towns people of Milford had a bridge & tower of stone errected over the river upon whose banks the first habitations were placed and near the spot where the first mill was erected. Along the sides of the bridge individual memorial stones where placed honoring the original settlers and prominent persons in the history of Milford. The tower, bridge and memorials were dedicated on 28 August 1889. The memorial stones were all by private donation.

    Nathaniel, Joseph, and Timothy were brothers, sons of Richard Baldwin, of Cholesbury, Buckinghamshire, England. Judge C. C. Baldwin, Cleveland, Ohio, says that an unusual number of his descendants have been eminent—Governor Henry Porter Baldwin, of Michigan ; Henry Baldwin, Judge of the United States Supreme Court, from 1829 to 1844; Brigadier General Heber Baldwin; Henry Baldwin Hyde (President of the Equitable Life Assurance Company of New York) ; Simeon Baldwin Chittenden, M. C. from Brooklyn, N. Y. ; Joseph Glover Baldwin, Judge. Supreme Court California, descend from Nathaniel. His wife was Abigail Camp. (Probably a daughter. of the first Nicholas Camp.) Two of his sons married sisters--daughters of Henry Botsford
