     Jago was born. He was of Pembroke, South Wales. Jago is usually given as the Cornish for the name James and as an alternate spelling for Iago. Jago married Alice Hooker, daughter of Richard Hooker, in Devonshire, England.3 Due to the great respect that he held for his father-in-law and of his estates and fortune, Jago elected to use the Hooker surname and became to be known as Vowell alias Hooker.
