Richard was born in county Essex, England, at the Manor of Stapleford Tany. Richard supported the King in the Baronial Wars. In the quo warranto proceedings of 1274-1275, Richard clained to have a charter but was unable to produce it which required him to seek judgement of the King. At the time of his death, the manor included 60 acres, this means the 60 acres were unavailable to him because they were assigned to a tenant.1 Richard departed this life in 1296 in county Essex, England, at the Manor of Stapleford Tany.
