     Zachariah was born on Saturday, 9 January 1638 in Charlestown, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.2 He was christened there on 12 January 1638 in the Church of Christ.3 Zachariah graduated from Harvard in 1657 as the first in ranking in his class. In 1663, he was offered a position at the baptist church of Rehoboth and remained there until 1667. Zachariah then went to Bradford where he became the first minister of the town in 1668. His salary was £50 a year plus a farm of 40 acres and they also built him a house. The congregation also formed a committee each year do provide labor for him. He remained there until his death, a period of 40 years.4 Zachariah married Susannah Graves on 18 November 1669 in Charlestown.5 Zachariah and Susannah had children: Susannah [10/11/1670] [m. John Chickering & (2) 10/18/1715 Benjamin Stevens], Sarah [5/20/1672] [m. 5/25/1697 Joshua Scottow], Zachariah [3/13/1674] [m. 11/28/1700 Dorcas Brackenbury], Catherine [3/29/1676], Thomas [2/01/1678] [m. Elizabeth Blowers, m. (2) Hannah Pike, m. (3) Eleanor (Thompson) Moody], William [1/07/1680] [ m. 6/13/1706 in Boston Eliza Laugdon] & Rebecca [7/20/1681] [m. 12/20/1710 Ebenezer Osgood of Andover]. All of the children were born in Bradford except Catherine who was born in Charlestown.6,7 Zachariah's wife, Susannah, died on 23 July 1681 in Charlestown leaving him a widower.2 Zachariah married 2nd Mehitable Palmer on 26 November 1683 in Bradford, Essex County, Massachusetts.8,9 Zachariah departed this life on Thursday, 22 March 1708 in Bradford, Essex County, Massachusetts, at age 70 years, 2 months and 13 days.9
