Elizabeth [Taylor] McCurdy
     Elizabeth was born on Saturday, 13 October 1781 in Path Valley, Fannett Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania. Elizabeth married James McCurdy I, son of Hugh McCurdy and Jane Cooke, circa 1802 in Path Valley, Fannett Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania. Elizabeth's husband, an unknown person , died on 10 August 1833 in Liberty Township, Crawford County, Ohio, leaving her a widow. 3 September 1850, the U.S. Federal Census listed Elizabeth living in the home of her son at Liberty Township. Enumerated in this household were John McCurdy [27 Ohio], his mother, his mother, Elizabeth [68 Pennsylvania], and a domestic, Flora Snyder [12 German].2 28 June 1860, the U.S. Federal Census listed Elizabeth living in the home of her son at Liberty Township. Enumerated in this household were Her son, John McCurdy [36 Ohio], Elizabeth [79 Pennsylvania], and domestic: Martha Couer [18].3 1 July 1870, the U.S. Federal Census listed Elizabeth living in the home of her son at Liberty Township. Enumerated in this household were John McCurdy ]47 Ohio], his wife: Catherine [33 Ohio], his mother, Elizabeth [88 Pennsylvania], domestic, Martha Couer [18], children: Albert [3 Ohio] & James [1 Ohio], step son: William McIntyre [10 Ohio].4 Elizabeth departed this life on Wednesday, 23 August 1871 in Liberty Township at age 89 years, 10 months and 10 days. She died in the home which had become her son John's - this was the home she came to with her husband so many years before. She was 89.10.10 years old.
OBITUARY: On Wednesday, the 23rd of August, at the residence of her son, John McCurdy of Liberty Twp., aged 89 years 10 months, The deceased was born in Franklin County, Pennsylvania and moved to Ohio in spring of 1821. First stayed at Mansfield, the spring following she removed with her husband to the farm whereon she died. She was more than half a century a good and consistent member of the Presbyterian Church, and her husband was one of the founders of the Bucyrus congregation.
She lost her husband in 1833. For thirty eight years, she has lived faithful to him memory, devoting herself to the care of his children and grandchldren until they repaid her maternal tenderness with filial care. She woke at about two o'clock on Wednesday morning restless and apparently as well as usual, but she soon fell asleep again and gradually breathed her last, without any apparent restlessness or pain whatever.
She was buried at Whetstone Township, Crawford County, Ohio, in Stewart Cemetery. She was buried in grave number 119 A.5
