     Nicolas was born circa 1642 in Pont-sur-Seine, Aube, France.1 He immigrated to Quebec from France in 1665 as a soldier of the regiment Carignan-Salieres.2 Nicolas married Barbe Neveu, daughter of Jean Neveu and Anne Ledet, on 27 August 1667 in ville de Quebec at the Basilica of Notre Dame.3 1681, Nicolas and Barbe were listed on the Canadian Census in Neuville, Portneuf County, Quebec, Canada. Enumerated in this household were Nicolas Sylvestre [39 years], his wife: Barbe Neveu [29 years], Nicolas [12 years], Marie [9 years], Louis [7 years], Pierre [5 years] & Anne [2 years].4 Nicolas departed this life in Neuville. He was buried there in the churchyard of St-Francois-de-Sales, Pointe-Aux-Tremples on Thursday, 10 March 1729.5
