John Sunderland

M, b. circa 1619, d. 26 December 1703
     John was born circa 1619 in England. He was probably the John Sunderland who lived next to her father-in-law, John Mayo, in Boston. John married Thomasine Lumpkin, daughter of William Lumpkin and Thomasine (?), on 13 May 1664 in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. The 13th day of the 3rd month 1664.1,2 John made his will on 17 September 1700.

I John Sunderland …give unto my Daughter Gourden twenty shillings and the Rest of ny Estate I give unto Tamsen my wife for terme of her Life and then what is left to be Equally Divided betwixt her three Daughters Mary Bangs Sarah ffreeman and Mercy Seers. And I make Tamsen my wife sole Executrix.3


John departed this life on Wednesday, 26 December 1703 in Eastham, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. He was buried at Harwich, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. His tombstone reads: "Here Lyes The Body of John Sumderlin Deceased December ye 26 1703 In ye 85 Year of His Age".4
