     John was born circa 1275 in Staffordsire, England, at the Manor of Bagot's Bromley. By 1292, John had inherited his father's estate including the Manor of Bagot's Bromley, and had received from his sister a Quit Claim deed for her right to any lands within the manor.3,4 John married Lucia (?) circa 1310. John departed this life by the Easter term in the 8th year of Edward III (1334). It was at this time that Margaret, the widow of Sir Geoffrey de Gresley, sued Ralph, the Baron of Stafford, to give up to her the custody of the heir & lands of John Bagod of Bagod's Bromley..5

(1292), by which Sibil, the daughter of Sir William Bagod of Bromley Bagod, quits claim to John Bagod, her brother, all her right in lands and tenements which her brother, William Bagod, held by gift of his father in Bromley Bagod, witnessed by Ralph de Montjoie, Alured de Soleney, and others. nnn This John de Mountjoye obtained a feoffment in Bromley Bagot, for, by a deed dated 1306, John Bagod, lord of Bromley Bagod, granted to John de Cannokbury, called Pecok, of Bromley Abbatis, four acres in Haukeshill near the land of John de Mountjoye. (Deeds at Blithfield.) The other third of the manor must have been held in dower at this date by Hawyse the widow of Sir William Bagot.

  4. [S929] Staffordshire Record Society, Collections of a history of Staffordshire, Volume 11: page 23 - Page 23 - William was dead before November, 1290, for on the de Banco Roll of Mich. 18-19 E. I., William de Tarpele sued John Bagot of Brumley Bagot for distraining him to perform suit at his Court of Brumley Bagot, against the form of feoffment. As deed No. 47 shows he was alive on the 16th of September, 1290, Sir William must have died between those two dates.

(1334), for at that date Margaret, the widow of Sir Geoffrey dc Gresley, sued Ralph, the Baron of Stafford, to give up to her the custody of the heir and lands of John Bagod of Bromley Bagod, which belonged to her, as John had held his land of her by knights' service. Ralph did not appear, and the Sheriff was ordered to distrain and produce him at the following term. At Trinity term of the same year the suit was made a " remanet," as the defendant was in the King's service in Scotland.
