     Solomon IM was born on Friday, 5 December 1777 in Strausburg, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. In the 1800 Pennsylvania Septennial Census the following are listed as residing in Upper Paxton, Dauphin County: Christiam Shofstall, Peter Shofstall Sen., Soloman Shofstall, Daniel Shofstall, Henry Shofstall, John Shofstall & Peter Shofstall Jr.2 Solomon married Catharina Haag, daughter of George Michael Haag and Anna Catharina Saladin, circa 1803 in Pennsylvania. The 1810 U.S. Federal Census enumerates at Jonestown, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, the family of Solomon Shofstall [40010:10010]. He is listed directly below his brother, Peter.3 Solomon fought honorably in the War of 1812. The 1820 U.S. Federal Census enumerates at Lykens Township the family of Solomon Shofestall [330010:40010].4 The 1830 U.S. Federal Census enumerates at Lykens Township the family of Solomon IM Shofstal [11002001:1020001].5 The family removed to Crawford County, Ohio in 1832. On 30 December 1835, Solomon purchased 80 acres in Crawford County.6 Solomon departed this life on Wednesday, 4 April 1849 in Liberty Township, Crawford County, Ohio, at age 71 years, 3 months and 30 days. He was buried there in the Yeiter Cemetery. It is located on Conly Road 1/4 mi south of Ridgton Raod.6,7
