Jacques Babie

M, b. 1645, d. 28 July 1688
     Jacques was born in 1645 in France. He immigrated from France to Quebec in September of 1665. He was of the company of St-Ours of the regiment of Carignan. A contract for the marriage of Jacques and Jeanne Dandonneau was signed on 1 June 1670 in Champlain, Les Chenaux County, Quebec, Canada. The contract was signed by the Notary, Guillaume LeRue, noting that the parents of Jacques were Jean Babie & Isabelle Robin and that Jeanne's parents were Pierre Dandonneau and Francoise Jobin.1 Jacques & Jeanne had children: Jacques [1673-6/10/1724][m. 2/04/1709 Marie Madeleine Veron dit Grandmenil], Louis [1674], Marie-Jeanne [1675/04/1703][m. 2/05/1689 Paul-Louis Dazemard dit Lusignan], Pierre [1677-5/08/1748][m. 2/13/1708 Marie-Anne Crevier dit St Francis], Antoine [1679-8/15/1683], Marie Francoise [3/10/1781-2/10/1784], Jean Francois [11/20/1682], Marie-Madeleine [11/17/1683-11/16/1717][m. 4/30/1708 Jean-Baptiste Crevier dit Deschenaux], Marie-Anne [7/07/1686-12/21/1702], Francois-Etienne [8/04/1687-9/01/1767][m. 6/04/1712 Marguerite Crevier dit St-Francois] & Raymond [12/26/1688-3/14/1737][m. 6/09/1721 Therese Lecompte dit Dupre]. 1681, Jacques and Jeanne were listed on the Canadian Census at Champlain. Enumerated in this household were Jacques Babie [42 years], Jeanne Dandonneau [26 years], Jacques 8 years], Louis [7 years], Marie [6 years], Pierre [5 years], Antoine [3 years] & Francoise [1 year]; also two servants.1 Jacques departed this life on Wednesday, 28 July 1688 in Champlain at age 43 years. On the same day, he was buried there in the churchyard of la Visitation.2
