Marie-Anne Poussin

     Marie-Anne was born circa 1642 in St-Germain, Paris, Ile-de-France, France, at the parish of St-Sulpice. She was the daughter of Georges Poussin & Claude Marga. In the spring of 1665, Marie-Anne left her home in France aboard the ship, "St-Jean-Baptiste de Dieppe", under the command of Captain Francois Fillye, as one of the 90 "Filles du Roi". Thirty of these young ladies had already commtted to a marriage contract. They arrived at Quebec on the 18th of June. She brought 500 livre for her dowry..1,2 Marie-Anne married Jean Larchevesque, son of Claude Larchevesque and Marie Simon, on 7 September 1665 in ville de Quebec at the Basilica of Notre Dame.3 Jean & Marie-Anne had children: Marie-Anne [7/28/1666-d.y.], Joseph-Simon [8/14/1667], Anne [1/04/1669-1/13/1670], Marie Anne Madeleine [4/12/1670-10/-12/28/1749][m. 11/10/1687 Francois Guay, 2nd 11/23/1688 Noel Rouillard & 3rd 7/08/1728 Jacques Corriveau], Jean-Baptiste [10/31/1671-12/11/1671], Claude-Henri [12/09/1672], Marie Catherine [9/11/1674-4/26/1741][m. 7/12/1700 Jean Badeau], Marie Genevieve [1/25/1676-3/03/1738][m. 2/05/1697 Louis Samson], Mathieu [6/28/1677-3/16/1751][m. 4/02/1704 Catherine Achin dit St Andre], Marguerite [4/06/1679-12/25/1740][m. 5/31/1700 Paul Augeart dit Policarp] & Marie-Therese [8/07/1680].4 1667, Marie-Anne and her husband, Jean, were listed on the Canadian Census in ville de Quebec. Enumerated in this household were Jean Larchevesque [22 years], Marie-Anne Poussin [24 years], Joseph-Simon [2 months], his brothers: Jacques [20 years], Henri [18 years] & Jean [8 years].5 1681, Marie-Anne and her husband, Jean, were listed on the Canadian Census in ville de Quebec. Enumerated in this household were Jean Larchevesque [36 years], Marie-Anne Poussin [39 years], Joseph [14 years], Anne [11 years], Claude [9 years], Catherine [7 years], Genevieve [6 years], Mathieu [4 years] & Marguerite [2 years].6 Marie-Anne's husband, Jean, died circa 6 April 1699 in ville de Quebec, leaving her a widow. Marie-Anne departed this life in ville de Quebec. She was buried there in the Notre Dame Cemetery on Monday, 23 January 1708.7
