     Robert was born in Lambourne, Berkshire, England. He was christened there on 10 December 1606.2 Robert married Cicily Sexton on 6 May 1633 in Lambourne, Berkshire, England, at St. Michael and All Angels Church.3 Robert made his will on 4 February 1665.

In the name of God Amen: The fourth day of February in the year of our Lord God One thousand six hundred sixty and four I Robert Pottenger of Alborn in the Countie of Wilts Taylor being sick and weak in bodie but of good perfect memory Thanks be given to Almighty God, and calling to mynd the uncertain estate of this life and that all flesh must return to the earth when it shall please God to call, I do make and declare this my last Will and Testatment in manner and form following, revoking and making vyod all former Will or Wills by me made or author by word or writing and this to be taken only for my last Will and Testament and none other. First being pentent and sorry from the bottom of my heart for my Syns that humbly desiring forgiveness for the same, I commit my soule unto Almighty God my maker in whom and through the precious death and mercy of Jesus Christ I trust and asurodly believe to be saved and to have full Pardon and remission of my Synns, And my Bodie to be buryed decently where it shall please my executrix hereafter named to appoint, And nowe for the ____Lands Goods and Chatells and debts as it pleased God farr above my deserts to bestow upon mee I doe Ordain give and dispose the same in manner and form following, that is to say I will that all those debts found in right to any manner of Person bereff and truly payd in convenient time after my decease by my Executrix hereafter named; Item I give and bequeath to my Sonn Robert Pottenger the west end of my house at Lamborne adjoining to a place called Copihold together with that Ground adjoining as formerly did belong to that part of the House as it is now bounded out with Pale, and also the outhouse ____ as formerly was ____ to that Part of the house Also I give to my aforesaid Sonn the oblong table board in the hall and my biggest _____, and the two Boosters that stand in the two rooms over the shopp and buttery, Alsoe I give my said Sonn Foure of my best powder ______. Item I give and bequeath to my Sonn Roger Pottenger the East end of my house at Lamborn wherein now my Sonn Robert Liveth together with a Garden ground and one Outhouse thereonto belonging as it is now bounded out, And there is a well in part of the ground aforesaid and my will is that that well shall be a source for the use of both houses And my will is that the housing and Ground before mentioned shall be to my Sonns as aforesaid and their heirs sussessionly forever. Item I give to my Sonn Roger Pottenger also my biggest Chest that stands off in the best Chamber at Lamborne, and the bed and bedsted with curtains rugg and all other things belonging to him that is in the best Chamber at Lamborne alsoe and alsoe foure of the Pewter platters Item I give an bequeath unto my Sonn Thomas Pottenger my biggest Brasse Pot and foure pewter platters and alsoe the Goods of what sort soever that is in and about my house at Aldborne aforesaid except a brasse Pot that I gave my Sonn Roger; And my Will is that my Sonn Robert Pottenger shall pay or cause to be payd to my Sonns Thomas and Roger six pounds apiece And alsoe twenty shillings apiece to his own three Children that is to say John Robert and Sarah, And my Will is that my said Sonn shall pay or give suffisient securitie for the aforesaid money to my overseers hereafter named before my said Sonn shall have any title to the aforesaid housing and Ground, And my Will is alsoe that Sisilia my deare wife shall have the use of my best Chamber over the hall at Lamborne during her natural life; All the rest of my Goods of what sort soever my debts and funeral Expenses being payd I give and bequeath to Cisilia my deare wife whom I make and Ordain sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament, And intrust my loving Friends Mr. Roger Garrard of Rockhampton; Thomas Tuoone of Lamborne aforesaid to be overseers of this my Will: In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seale the day and year above mentioned: Thomas son of Robert Pottenger: Sealed and published in the presence of John Aderly; Edward Wills.4

Robert departed this life in Aldbourne, Berkshire, England. He was buried there in St. Michael's Churchyard. His will was probated on 4 July 1673.
