     Henry was born on Friday, 2 November 1235 in Haughley, County Suffolk, England, at Haughley Castle. Henry was a nephew of both Henry III and Simon de Montfort and as such was caught in the middle of the Barons' War, but finally took the royalist side and was among the prisoners taken by Montfort at the Battle of Lewes (1264), was held at Wallingford Castle and later released. In 1268 he joined with his cousin Edward in the crusade, but Edward sent him back from Sicily to pacify the unruly province of Gascony.1 Henry married Constance of Montcada on 5 May 1269 in London, county Middlesex, England, at Windsor Castle.1 Henry died on Friday, 13 March 1271 in Viterbo, Viterbo, Italy, at the Cathedral of San Lorenzo when he was attacked by his cousins Guy and Simon the younger de Montfort, sons of Simon de Montfort, 6th Earl of Leicester. They killed him in revenge of the brutal deaths of their father and older brother at the Battle of Evesham. Henry had issue and his half brother Edmund became the heir appparent. He was buried at Glouchestershire, England, in the Hailes Abbey.
