     Jean was born circa 1641 in Saintes, Charente, Poitou-Charentes, France.1 He immigrated from Saintes, Charente, Poitou, France in 1665 as a soldier in the Carignan-Salieres Regiment.2 Jean married Marquerite Chemereau circa 1669 in Quebec, Canada. In 1775, he fought in the Sorel Campaign. 1681, Jean and Marquerite were listed on the Canadian Census in the Seigneurie-de-Villemure, Berthier County, Quebec, Canada. Enumerated in this household were Jean Piet [40 years], Marguerite Chemereau [30 years], Antoine [11 years], Pierre [8 years], Marie [6 years], Jeanne [ 3 years] & Marguerite [1 years]. He had a rifle, 4 cows & 5 arpents of land.3,4 Jean's wife, Marquerite, died on 14 September 1715 in Sorel, St-Pierre-De Saurel, Quebec, Canada, leaving him a widower. Jean departed this life in Berthierville, Berthier County, Quebec, Canada.5 He was buried there in the churchyard of Ste-Genevieve on Friday, 17 February 1730.6

Someone did list the name Jean Piet in the margin of this record. It is a rather strange record since it does not list the parents of the one year old child.
