Reverend Abraham Pierson1,2

M, b. circa 22 September 1611
     Abraham was born circa 22 September 1611 in Guiseley, Yorkshire, England. He was the son of Thomas & Grace [Marshall] Pierson. On 22 September 1611, he was christened in Guiseley, Yorkshire, England.3,4 In 1629, he enter Trinity College, Cambridge University & graduated in 1632. He was ordained a deacon at the Collegiate Church, Southwell, Nottingham on 23 Seotember 1632.5,2 He arrived in Boston in 10 May 1639 on the "Mayflower" with his 2nd cousin, Henry Pierson. Abraham married Abigail Mitchell, daughter of Matthew Mitchell and Susan Wood, circa 1640. In 1643, he moved to Brandford, Connecticut where he was pastor for 23 years. He wrote the eulogy for his brother-in-law, Robert Coe. In 1666, they moved to Newark. Abraham made his will on 10 August 1671 at Newark, Essex Bounty, New Jersey.

It contains the following clausse: "That my wife shall have the thirds of my whole estate to whose love & faitfullness I comit the bringing up of my children and do appoint her my sole executrix, and give her my great bible and what other English book she pleaseth to choose."

Abraham departed this life on Tuesday, 9 August 1678 in Newark, Essex Bounty, New Jersey.5 His will was probated on 12 March 1679. His widow, Abigail, accepted the trust and gave bond as executrix.
