     Elizabeth was born on Saturday, 16 February 1833 in Liberty Township, Crawford County, Ohio. On 17 August 1833, she was christened in Sulphur Springs, Liberty Township, Crawford County, Ohio, at the English Lutheran Church. She was often referred to as Lib or Libby. Elizabeth married Nathaniel Steen on 24 September 1858 in Crawford County, Ohio. This marriage ended before 8 May 1890.1 Nathaniel & Elizabeth had an adopted daughter, Ella [1867], wife of Volney W. Jones. 2 September 1870, Elizabeth and her husband, Nathaniel, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Bucyrus, Crawford County, Ohio. Enumerated in this household were Nathaniel Steen [36 Ohio], & his wife: Elizabeth [36 Ohio]. Nathaniel is a butcher.2 25 June 1880, Elizabeth and her husband, Nathaniel, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Bucyrus, Crawford County, Ohio. Enumerated in this household were Nathaniel Steen [45 Ohio Ireland PA - Butcher], his wife: Elizabeth [46 Ohio]. & daughter, Ella [13 Ohio].3 1 June 1900, Elizabeth was listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Bowling Green, Plain Township, Wood County, Ohio, at 51 Sand Ridge Street. Enumerated in this household were Elizabeth Peterman [67 Ohio - February 1833][divorced]. She had had no cildren and rented her home.4 After the break up of her marriage, Elizabeth reverted back to her maiden name of "Peterman". 5 May 1910, Elizabeth was listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Liberty Township. Enumerated in this household were Elizabeth Peterman [76 Ohio][divorced]. She had no children. She was living in the Sulphur Springs school disstrict.5 Elizabeth departed this life on Friday, 19 February 1915 in Sulphur Springs, Liberty Township at age 82 years and 3 days.

Obituary - The death of Mrs. Elizabeth Peterman, well know Sulphur Springs lady, occurred at 3:30 o’clock Friday afternoon .at the home of her brother John Peterman at 458 South Poplar Street. She was just entering on her 83rd year, having reached her 82nd birthday Tuesday, Feb, 16. Dropsy was the cause of her death, her health having been impaired for years.
Funeral services at the John Peterman home Monday at 12:30 p.m. with burial at Oakwood Cemetery.
Daughter of a pioneer Crawford County citizen and herself born In a log house in Liberty Township, Miss Peterman spent practically her entire life in this county. She was reared in Liberty Township, lived in Bucyrus for 20 years, before and after the Civil War, resided west of this city on a farm for some time; spent three years in Bowling Green and for the past 14 years had made her home in Sulphur Springs. She was one of six children of Michael and Sarah Ridgley Peterman, and is survived by one brother, John Peterman and two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Sutton of Continental, Putnam County and Mrs. Isabel Hubbard of Bowling Green.
Six weeks ago, Mrs. Peterman, failing gradually in health, was brought to the home of her brother here, where she was tenderly cared for to the last. She was a former member of the Baptist Church here and was a good woman whose many excellent qualities were recognized by her friends. After a long and useful life she has gone to her reward and is at peace. On 22 February 1915, Elizabeth was buried at Oakwood Cemetery, Bucyrus, Crawford County, Ohio.6
