John married Edith Phebe Parson on 23 March 1879 in Crawford County, Ohio.2 John was a harness maker by trade. He would also buy old houses. fix them up & resell them. 25 June 1880, John and his wife, Edith, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Bucyrus village, Crawford County, Ohio. Enumerated in this household were John Peterman [44 Ohio][butcher] & his wife: Phebe [23 Ohio].3 12 June 1900, John and his wife, Edith, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Sandusky Township, Crawford County, Ohio. Enumerated in this household were John Pettarman [64 Ohio - October 1835] & his wife: Phebe [43 Ohio - August 1857]. They had been married 21 years with no children. John is a farmer.4 22 April 1910, John and his wife, Edith, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Bucyrus at Popular Street. Enumerated in this household were John Pettarman [74i Ohio] & his wife, Phobe [53 Ohio]. They had been married 32 years with no children. John works at a freight house.5 8 January 1920, John and his wife, Edith, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Bucyrus on East Mansfield Street. Enumerated in this household were John Pettarman [84 Ohio][none] & his wife: Phobe [64 Ohio].6 John departed this life on Wednesday, 26 April 1922 in Bucyrus at age 86 years, 5 months and 30 days. He was buried there at Bucyrus in Oakwood Cemetery.7
