Sir Richard de Peshale1

M, b. circa 1321, d. 1387
FatherSir Adam de Peshale II d. 8 Jan 1346
Richard de was born circa 1321 in Staffordshire, England. Richard married Joan de Chetwynd, daughter of Reginald de Chetwynd and Hawisia de Abisia, circa 1343 in England.2 He was the heir to the estate of his father who died in 1346. Sir Richard appears to have been quite a producer of wool & had large flocks of sheep. It was also in Richard's generation that this branch of the family began to hold lands in the county of Chester. Holdings in this county continued from generation to generation until after our ancestor, Thomas Pershall [Pearsall] came to America. This property came through his wife. Richard was a member of Parliament for Staffordshire and Shropshire 1380 to 1383. Richard departed this life in 1387 in Shropshire, England. At the time of his death, he held lands in Horseley, Rule, Byshop's Offeley, Adbaston and Draycote, etc.3

Additional Notes: In 1348, Richard and Joan, the widow of Adam de Peshale, petitioned for ther return of there rightrul property, Richard, described as son and heir of Adam. There is also another petition applied for by his brother, John [see "Additional Notes" under John], which indicates that John was of age by 1344, making his birth year to have been no later than 1323. Thus, Richard would have to have been born no later than 1322.4
