     John de Lumley de was born circa 1101 in Staffordshire, England, at the Manor of Peshale in the parish of Eccleshall. John received a deed from his parents granting him their property at Wodeshende located within Lumley in county Durham. The purpose of this deed was to give their son & heir an estate as would enable him to marry a lady of the rank of the heiress of Swynnerton. John married Miss (?) fitz Alan, daughter of Robert fitz Alan, in England.
