Nicholas Pankhurst

M, b. 29 June 1589, d. before 29 April 1622
Nicholas was born before 29 June 1589 in Plumpton, County Sussex, England. On 29 June 1589, he was christened in Plumpton, County Sussex, England, at St. Michael & All Angel's Church. Nicholas married Barbara Geere, daughter of Thomas Geere and Barbara Borde, on 14 June 1613 in Ovingdean, County Sussex, England.1 Nicholas resided in Iworth & owned 6 acres in "Rookehurst" in Wivelsworth. In April 1600, a land record included the following - "The Breach (16a) abuts East: the road to Lindfield; West: Francis Moore gent; South: John Button; North: Thomas Hother, once Stephen Boarde gent, Thomas Geere ... The Strushe (4a) abuts West: once Stephen Boarde gent; E,N: John Button; South: Hamme Brook ... Strush Field abuts East Nicholas Pancost. This showing the names of Pancost, Geere & Boarde in close proximity. The Nicholas Pancost may be Nicholas' father. No record has been located for the christening of Nicholas & Barbara's daughter, Joane. Sincr she is named sole executrix of her mother's will, questions arise as to her age. Also, her father leaves her land but when he dies it goes to Anne, not her heirs or her choice. Nicholas made his will on 26 April 1622 at Iford, County Sussex, England.

: 151 - will of Nicholas Panckhurst of Iford 1 November 1623 [Note: this may be the correct probate date for the will of our Nicholas - klm]. Originally had the date of 1620 for his will but it appears that it should be 1622, so have changed it. His twins were born just before the 1620 date & he noted his wife to be with child & his daughter, Barbara was born just after the 1622 date - klm]
