Frances Looney

     Frances was born on Monday, 20 April 1908 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada. She was the daugter of Alexander Robert Looney and Anna Mary Salmond.1 On 24 Sewptember 1913,Frances and her mother, Anna, crossed over from Canada at Port of Detroit, destination Oxford, Michigan.2 5 February 1920, the U.S. Federal Census listed Frances in the household of his parents at the Village of Birmingham, BloomfieldTownship, Oakland Coundy, Michigan. Enumerated in this household were Alex Looney [50 MIchigan], Anna [46 Michigan], Lester [19 Michigan], Howard [16 Michigan], Frances [11 Canada - american citizen] & a boarder: Edward Wright [44 Ohio]. The family rented their home. Alex was a carpenter at an Automobile Factory; Edward was a lineman for the telephone company.3 15 April 1940, the U.S. Federal Census listed Frances in the household of her parents at 608 Purdy Street, Birmingham, Oakland County, Michigan. Enumerated in this household were Alexander R. [71 Michigan], Anna M [66 Michigan], Frances [31 Canada English], Rose Wallosck [23 Ohio], James Neller [60 Michigan]. the Couple owned their home valued at $6500. They lived at the same address in 1935. Alexander was a caretaker at a Church making $780 Frances was a second grade teacher at a parish school making $1375. Rose was a waitress at restaurant making $610, and James was a bookkeeper for a construction company making $2160.4 Frances married Leonard Joseph Meraw, son of Thomas Meraw and Mary Agnes Hott, on 27 December 1941 in Maumee, Lucas County, Ohio.5 In 1955, Frances was living at 208 Catalpa Street in Royal Oak.6 Frances departed this life on Friday, 28 June 1991 in Palm Beach, Palm Beach County, Florida.
