William Oliver Thomson

     William was born on Wednesday, 26 May 1858 at Indiana. He was the son of Enoch and Lucy [Hoag] Thomson. William married Emma Elizabeth Snodgrass, daughter of Ceburn B. Snodgrass and Anna Elizabeth McCurdy, in 1890. 29 April 1910, William and his wife, Emma, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census at Williamsburg Township, Franklin County, Kansas. Enumerated in this household were William O. Thomson [51 Indiana], his wife: Emma E. [38 Kansas], Daniel F. [16 Kansas], Charles F. [14 Kansas], Cecil Ruby [11 Kansas], Ethel M. [2 Kansas], Edna F. [2 Kansas]. They had been married 19 years with 6 children, 5 living. This was his 2nd marriage and her first.1 The family lived around Williamsburg, Kansas until 1913 when they moved to Phoenix, Arizona. 1 January 1920, William listed on the U.S. Federal Census at 944 Van Buran, Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona. Enumerated in this household were William O. Thomson [61 Indiana], his wife: Emma E. [48 Kansas], Daniel F. [26 Kansas], Charles F. [24 Kansas], Ethyl M. [12 Kansas] Edna F. [12 Kansas], & Florence [4 4/12 Arizona]. William was a carpenter for the railroad while Charles was a boiler maker and Daniel was a boilermaker helper for the railroad.2 William died on Monday, 1 September 1924 at Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona, at age 66 years, 3 months and 6 days of Chronic Pneumonia.3,4 According to his death certificate, he was buried in the Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery; unfortunately, the cemetery office has no record of his burial.5

    Notice is hereby given that Emma Elizabeth Thomson has filed in this Court a certain document purporting to be the last Will and Testament of William Oliver Thomson together with her petition praying that said document be admitted to probate in this Court as the last Will and Testament of said William Oliver Thompson who, petitioner alleges, is deceased, and that letters testamentary issue thereon to said petitioner and that same will be heard on Monday the 26th day of January, A.D. 1925, at 1:30 o'clock in the afternoon of said day, at the court room of said Court, in the Court House, in the City of Phoenix, County of Maricopa, State of Arizona, and all persons interested in said estate are notified then and there to appear and show cause, if any they have, why the prayer of said petitioner should not be granted.
