Elizabeth [Taylor] McCurdy
     Elizabeth was born on Saturday, 13 October 1781 at Path Valley, Fannett Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of William Taylor and Martha (?). Elizabeth married James McCurdy I, son of Hugh McCurdy I and Jane Cooke, circa 1802 at Path Valley, Fannett Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania. As of circa 1802,her married name was McCurdy. Elizabeth Taylor and James McCurdy I had 8 children children. The 1810 U.S. Federal Census enumerates at Path Valley, Fannett Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, the family of James McCurdy [10011:31110]. [page 910] [James is listed next to Hugh on this census-klm] Elizabeth's husband, James, died on 10 August 1833 in Liberty Township, Crawford County, Ohio, at age 73 years, leaving her a widow. 3 September 1850, Elizabeth was listed on the U.S. Federal Census at Liberty Township, Crawford County, Ohio. Enumerated in this household were John McCurdy [27 Ohio], Elizabeth [68 Pennsylvania], Florence Snyder [12 Germany - domestic].1 28 June 1860, Elizabeth was listed on the U.S. Federal Census at Liberty Township, Crawford County, Ohio. Enumerated in this household were John McCurdy [36 Ohio], Elizabeth [68 Pennsylvania].2 1 July 1870, Elizabeth was listed on the U.S. Federal Census at Liberty Township, Crawford County, Ohio. Enumerated in this household were Her son, John McCurdy [47 Ohio], his wife, Catherine [33 Ohio], Elizabeth [88 Pennsylvania], Martha Couer [18 domestic], Albert [3 Ohio], James [1 Ohio], William McIntyre [10 Ohio - step son].3 Elizabeth was more than half a century a good and consistent member of the Presbyterian Church, and her husband was one of the founders of the Bucyrus congregation. She lost her husband in 1833. For thirty eight years, she has lived faithful to his memory, devoting herself to the care of his children and grandchildren until they repaid her maternal tenderness with filial care. Elizabeth departed this life on Wednesday, 23 August 1871 at The McCurdy Homestead on Stetzer Road, Liberty Township, Crawford County, Ohio, at age 89 years, 10 months and 10 days. She woke at about two o'clock in the morning restless and apparently as well as usual, but she soon fell asleep again and gradually breathed her last, without any apparent restlessness or pain whatever. This was in the home she came to with her husband so many years before now belonging to her son John. Elizabeth was laid to rest in the Stewart Cemetery, Whetstone Township, Crawford County, Ohio, in grave number 119 A.4
