     The name sometimes spelled Grissin. Levi was born on Friday, 28 July 1882 at Bath Township, Allen County, Ohio. He was the son of William & Pheobe Jane [Spurlin] Shrider. Levi married Etta Blanche McCurdy, daughter of Joseph Donald McCurdy and Dorothea A. Vought, on 29 March 1902 at Allen County, Ohio.1 3 May 1910, Levi and his wife, Etta, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census at Parker Township, Clark County, Illinois. Enumerated in this household were Levi Shrider [27 Ohio], Blanche [29 Ohio], Dorothy [7 Ohio], Leona [1 Illinois]. They had been married 8 years with three children, two living.2 19 January 1920, Levi and his wife, Etta, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census at Casey, Clark County, Illinois. Enumerated in this household were Levi Shrider [37 Ohio-driller oilfield], Blanche [38 Ohio], Dorothy [16 Ohio], Leona [10 Illinois]. They lived on Jefferson Street.3 Levi departed this life on Saturday, 1 November 1941 at Lima Township, Allen County, Ohio, at age 59 years, 3 months and 4 days.

LEVI SHRIDER, 59, grry store proprietor at 903 N. Cole St., died at 12:30 am Sunday at 515 E. Second Street aften an illness of three days. Shrider was born in Lima, had later moved to Casey, Ill, where he resided until 15 years ago when he returned to Lima. A widower, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Grissin and Mrs. Nobel Grissin, both of Casey, Ill., two brothers, Walter, of 717 Weadock Ave, and Charles of Casey; three sisters, Mrs. John Smith of Elida, Mrs. George Goodman, of Casey, and Mrs. Frank Pilgrim, of Akron, and seven grandchildren. The body was shipped Sunday evening from the Lewis funeral home to Casey where services will be held Tuesday at the Markwell funeral home. [Lima News - 3 November1941]

Levi was laid to rest in the Washington Street Cemetery, Casey, Clark County, Illinois.
