Margaret [Leggett] Ives
     Margaret was born on Thursday, 27 April 1843 at the family home at "Hillside", Roslyn, Queens County, Long Island, New York, at 1:00 am. She was the daughter of Augustus Wright Leggett and Elizabeth Seaman. She also went by the name of Minnie. As of 26 June 1860,her married name was Ives. Minnie married Lewis Thomas Ives on 26 June 1860 at Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. 6 July 1870, Minnie and her husband Lewis were listed on the U.S. Federal Census at Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. Enumerated in this household were Lewis T. Ives [35 England], Minnie [26 New York], Augustus [9 Michigan], Percival [6 Michigan], Valentine [2 mos. Michigan], & Lewis [2 mos. Michigan], Anna Gallager [23 Canada].2 15 June 1880, Margaret was listed on the U.S. Federal Census at Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. Enumerated in this household were Corydon C. Randall [39 Canada], Anna S. [32 New York], Lida S. [11 Michigan], Huntley B. [5 Michigan], Ferris S. [3 Michigan]. Lewis T. Ives [46 New York][border-artist], Margaret [36 New York], Augustus [19 Michigan], Percival S. [16 Michigan], Valentine S. [9 Michigan], Bertha Neuman [20 Michigan][servant], Flora McDermitt [22 Scotland][servant]. Corydon was a photographer. [Note: Anna Randall & Margaret Ives are sisters. - klm]3 Margaret's husband, Lewis, died on 13 December 1894 in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan, at age 61 years, 4 months and 9 days, leaving her a widow. 1 June 1900, Margaret was listed on the U.S. Federal Census at 294 Bush Street, Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. Enumerated in this household were Augustus W. Ives [August 1863 - 36 Michigan][widow], Minnie L. Ives [April 1845 - 55 New York][widow][mother], Nina Wilson [February 1878 - 22 Canada][servant], Lenard Carley [May 1875 - 25 England][border]. Augustus was a physician. Minnie had eight children, three living.4 19 April 1910, Margaret was listed on the U.S. Federal Census at 617 Cass Avenue., Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. Enumerated in this household were Pulaski Billings [66 New York], Lucy Augusta [67 Michigan], Edna A. [21 Michigan], mother-in-law: Hannah E. [86 New Jersey], lodger: Margaret Ives [66 New York- widow]. Margaret had seven children, three living.5 Margaret died Monday, 28 May 1928 at Birmingham, Oakland County, Michigan, at age 85 years, 1 month and 1 day at the home of her son, Augustus Wright Ives.

Obituary: Percy Ives Death Fatal to Mother
Mrs. Margaret W. Ives, 84 years old a resident of Detroit for seventy years died at the home of her son A. W. Ives in Birmingham, Michigan yesterday noon. Mrs. Ives became ill after the death of her son, Percy Ives, Detroit artist, who died in February. She was critically ill last week.
Mrs. Ives was born in New York in 1843 and moved with her parents to Pontiac when a young girl. She moved to Detroit soon after and at the age of seventeen married Lewis T. Ives, well known artist, who died thirty four years ago.
Mrs. Ives was the daughter of A. W. & Elisa S. Leggett of New York and was a member of the Unitarian church. Surviving her are her son, Dr. Ives; a brother, Mortimer Leggett, and a sister, Mrs. Anna Randall both of Drayton Plains, Michigan.

Margaret was laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery, Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan.6
