     Margaret was born on Sunday, 4 May 1884 at Evanston, Cook County, Illinois. 10 April 1930, Margaret was listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Santa Barbara at 612 Evalerio Street. Enumerated in this household were James Whittemore [69 Michigan], Emmala K. [65 South Carolina], Margaret F. [41 Illinois] & a servant: Matilda Meyer [ 39 Wisconsin]. They owned their home valued at $20,000, and they had a radio. He was 21 years old when first married, she was 20 years old.1 She made her will 1 November 1937 at Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara County, California.

My last Will

I will to my sister Emma Guest of Glendale and my brother Nelson Whittemore of Santa Barbara – my share of the Fisherloo apartments in Detroit – to be divided equally between them.

To my sister-in-law Marjory Miller Whittemore of Santa Barbara I will my house which I now live.

To my step-mother – Ermelda Whittemore I Ieave whatever she wishes to select from among my personal effects.

To my cousin Elizabeth Hitchcock of Detroit – I will $500. If she is not living I wish it to remain to be divided as otherwise provided in this will.

To Agnes Palmer – I leave my little dog – Suie Yat Seu and $500.

To my nurse – Addye Salter – I leave $500.

To my nephews James Guest – Irving Guest and John Randolph Guest of Glendale and my niece Elizabeth Guest Augurson of Glendale and my niece Susan Blanche Whittemore of Santa Barbara – I leave the rest of my estate [except fpr personal property – such as furniture – trunkets -books – etc.] to be divided equally.

My personal effects shall be divided by my brother – sister and sister-in-law – as they see fit. I would like my best friends to have small remembrance. The rest to be divided as they wish.

To them all I leave my undying love and gratitude for their kindness to me.

      Margaret departed this life on Thursday, 2 December 1937 in Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara County, California.3 She was buried at Santa Barbara in Santa Barbara Cemetery.4
